I'm a little behind on blogging, but that's okay! Last weekend we went to a place called Kailasagiri Hill. It's very close to where we live and we see it every day, so we thought we would go see what was on top of this hill. It turns out it is a very popular tourist destination!
On the way up, you take a ski lift (it's a pretty big hill). I had no idea until now that a random guy was posing for my picture...
On the way up...I have to admit, it was kind of scary. I kept thinking, "what if their building standards aren't up to par and this whole lift could fall apart as we're going up?" There were some bumps along the way that definitely gave us a thrill.
The view of the city from our ski lift. Pretty smoggy unfortunately...
This was the major attraction: Statues of the god Shiva and...I can't remember the goddess. Very beautiful though.
The rest of the park had a lot of pretty gardens and other attractions. We even got to go to a shrine for a famous man who started his own following in India about 50 years ago. We watched a video about him and it was very interesting. Hindus believe that some people on this earth are reincarnations of certain gods, and that was the case with this guy.
Gardens...
Hanging out on the pokey grass. It hurt to sit on! I don't think they have normal grass here.
And of course, there are puppies and dogs everywhere!
Giraffe bush!
These are the letters that we see from our house every day spelling, "Kailasagiri." From far away it looks like Hollywood letters.

Well, that was it! It was a fun little adventure to a place we didn't know was right in our backyard!
